RE: Spellcaster's Society: Drill #2 - Matilda Nordstrom - 10-24-2025

As the wall came closer and closer, Matilda was sure that her spell had missed its mark. And then the wall blew away just enough for them to sneak through. Thank Heavens! Once on the other side, she expected to see the grounds of Hogwarts, but it wasn’t that at all.

The rolling green hills and meadows were beautiful. Much the same as her childhood home, with the exception of the magical creatures dotting the landscape. The Hippogryff soared around the beautiful fields, causing Matilda to tighten her grip even more.

Thankfully the creature was adept at flight, and their rewarding flight was very uneventful. Dare she say, it was actually fun. Not that she would ever admit that to anyone. Flying was not her thing and if one more person tried to sway her onto a broom for Quidditch she would scream. It was a pleasant year without having to worry about the sport to be honest.

Coming to a stop on the area around the tower they had just broken out of, Tilly noticed the Professor waiting there, clipboard in hand. “Hello Professor.” She said, although he apparently wasn’t in the mood for a conversation.

Taking his nod as a sign that she was free to go, Tilly walked towards the door with the Exit sign. As she entered into a room with more of her friends watching the events unfold, she decided to head out to the greenhouses to spend some time. Alone. Sometimes it was nice to just sit in the quiet.

RE: Spellcaster's Society: Drill #2 - Alice Ravenstone - 10-24-2025

For a moment there, Alice really thought that she and the hippogriff were going to end up being flattened on the ceiling. She knew that her spellwork wasn’t the strongest. She was always so conscious about the effort she put in that she’d rather be accurate than powerful. Perhaps a weakness? Or maybe something that made her a bit more creative.

Anyways, the important thing is that her spell finally did work and the ceiling shattered. The bad thing? She and the hippogriff were in danger of being knocked out by a falling piece of material. Thankfully, the creature was proving to be quite graceful. Soon, the danger was behind them and they were finally free.

When Alice looked, not realizing she’d had her eyes closed, she smiled. They weren’t at Hogwarts – or it didn’t look like it. The ground was so lush and green and beautiful, and Alice breathed a sigh of relief. She was thrilled this was done and over with.

Now that she didn’t think she was going to die, she was able to relax. She petted the hippogriff’s neck, taking in the scenery around them. The streams they flew over were so clear that she could see the pebbles under the surface. And then up they went again, above a line of trees.

It wasn’t until she spotted the tower that she even remembered what they were doing. The hippogriff landed softly on the ground near Professor Barlowe, who gestured for her to get off the creature. Alice climbed down. “Thank you,” she said softly to the creature before giving it a final pat.

He gestured to a door, and Alice’s eyes widened for a second. It seemed to be the same door she had come in from. Still, she smiled at Maddox, and then opened the door and walked out of the room. Thankfully, her turn was done and now she could watch someone else.
