Office of Gideon Blackwood - Gideon Blackwood - 12-08-2025

OFFICE OF DEPUTY GIDEON BLACKWOOD

As you step across the threshold into the office of Deputy Headmaster Blackwood, the trademark green glow of the dungeon rooms immediately envelops you. This section of the castle, situated beneath the Great Lake, is inherently dark, an atmosphere magnified by the black marble floors, dark ebony furniture, and sharp, shiny silver finishes.

The space is impressively large, far more expansive than a typical staff office, allowing the Deputy Headmaster, Applied Magic Professor, and Slytherin Head of House plenty of room to pace, as he was known to do.

Dominating the center of the room is a large, ornate wooden desk and large green leather office chair. The desk is currently littered with the chaotic evidence of his multiple duties: the typical ink pot, quills, rolled parchments, and stacks of well used books. Though normally far tidier, juggling three distinct roles has clearly taken a toll on his cleanliness.

The office serves as an extension of his living quarters, a space where Gideon can hold meetings, dole out detentions, or simply unwind with a cup of tea (or whiskey). The air is thick with the distinct scent of Gideon Blackwood: rich leather, wood smoke from the fireplace, the dusty scent of first editions, and a clean, woodsy cologne. A faint hint of fine whiskey or aged bourbon is also present, though it’s a fragrance the students would be unlikely to recognize.

Behind his desk stand large bookcases filled with the works of Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Concealed behind one unassuming shelf is the discreet doorway leading to Gideon’s private living quarters.

To the right, floor-to-ceiling windows offer a mesmerizing view into the shadowy depths of the Great Lake. A selection of oversized, green leather sofas are positioned in front of a large ornate fireplace. More shelves could be found holding textbooks, journals and other classroom materials for the various classes taught at Hogwarts, including his new Applied Magic class.
