Professorship Information
Personality:
Smack dab in between her brother and sister, Ruby had always done everything to catch her father’s approving eye. Unwilling to follow in her mother’s footsteps, she showed interest in the Pureblood world early on. While most her age would have found political talk boring, she found it fascinating. Not to mention how cold-blooded some politicians were to get their way. Determination is part of Ruby’s well-known personality, and while she was trained as an Auror, she became quite good at de-escalation techniques to prevent violence. Her level headedness is what caused the Minister to tap her to be in charge of Hogwarts while they attempted to fix what the previous Headmaster destroyed.
What subject are you applying for?
Headmistress
IC Reason to Teach:
Ruby has always respected those who spent time teaching children how to hone their magic, and she always coveted the position of Head of Hogwarts. To her, the ranking among the Wizarding World was important and to lead something like Hogwarts, without being directly involved in the Ministry and the politics that came along with it, was something she could excel at. When she was approached with the offer to do just that, Ruby immediately said yes.
Prompt Response:
Ruby nodded at one of the professors as she took a seat at the staff table. How strange it was, she thought every day, to be up here instead of down there where the students were. She’d been nervous when she first entered the castle as an adult, returning to not mold young minds but to lead them into the path of righteousness. The previous Headmaster had done quite the job on the castle and she was busy working with the other adults to fix what he had undone.
A commotion at one of the student tables drew her attention. Blue eyes looked over at the red and gold table, the one she had sat at as a student, and saw one of the first years looking horrified at a seventh year. She raised an eyebrow, a smirk on her lips as she waited to see what the older student was going to do.
Clearly, she thought, her training as a field mediator would prove handy here, something she hadn’t really thought of. She clutched her wand, preparing to throw up barriers if the two needed some assistance. The Slytherin table was laughing. The Hufflepuff table looked terrified. The Ravenclaws… well, they hardly even noticed because they were so busy studying.
“What will you do…” she muttered under her breath, lightly tapping the tip of her wand on the table. It honestly felt like forever while she waited for the older boy to react to the younger one. Mostly, she was watching his hands. If he reached for his wand, then she would step in. If he -
A yell, but not a particularly angry one, echoed through the Great Hall and she bit a red lip, her smile finally emerging as she saw the older boy grab a handful of – what was that? Mash? – and throw it at the boy with the precision of a Chaser.
“Food fight!” one of the students yelled out and Ruby looked over at her Deputy, letting it go for a moment before finally standing up, brandishing her wand for all to see. All of the tables, it seemed, had gotten involved in that very short amount of time.
“That is enough,” Ruby said, her voice calm and yet authoritative. “If you are quite finished wasting food, you two can come see me in my office once you are done cleaning up the mess you started.”
