Gideon Blackwood's office is larger than one might expect, giving the Deputy Headmaster and Hufflepuff Head of House plenty of room to pace as he thinks. His office was an extension of his living quarters, a place where he could relax, unwind, take meetings, dole out detentions or sit with a nice cup of tea. At home, there was a well worn path on the carpet of his living room, the wood floors in his study showing wear from long nights of worry. If there was something on his mind, he needed to move.
As you enter, the smell of rich leather, wood burning in the fireplace, dusty first editions and a woodsy cologne permeate the air. It was a smell that was definitively Gideon. A faint hint of fine whiskey or aged bourbon is also present, though it's a fragrance the children wouldn't recognize.
As you entered, the door was positioned in the middle of the room. To the left sat a large mahogany desk, leather swivel chair, floor to ceiling bookcases that held the works of Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to name a few. Hidden behind one unassuming shelf, sat the door leading to Gideon’s living quarters. He was the only one with the ability to open it, which was just how he liked it.
From the door, if you turned right you would see a selection of large oversized yellow sofas. A large ornate fireplace burned warm, giving the room a beautiful glow. More shelves could be found holding textbooks, journals and other classroom materials for the various classes taught at Hogwarts. One thing very un-Hufflepuff-like was the lack of plants. The man had a black thumb, therefore he left the plants in the common room.
