Creature Corner
#1

Off to the side, down a short path, lies an area that looks more like a forest than the expected open field. A weathered wooden archway bears the words Creature Corner, and just beside it stands a neatly painted sign of rules:

RULES FOR CREATURE CORNER
  • Only feed the creatures the provided food.
  • Be respectful; you are in their space.
  • Do not touch unless instructed.
Failure to follow these rules will result in a week of nothing but sandwiches — or worse.

Once inside, a winding path leads through a series of small enclosures, each dedicated to one of the festival’s gentler creatures.

Puffskein
Closest to the entrance are the ever-popular Puffskeins, humming happily in a cozy pen. Visitors are invited to step inside and give them a gentle pat, but we recommend that you take a nose plug from the basket, just in case you’re worried about their notorious taste for bogies.

Bowtruckle
The next enclosure houses a few elusive Bowtruckles. They look exactly like twigs until they blink — or climb onto your sleeve. You may hold one if it allows it and offer it a few woodlice as a treat (you’ll need to dig them up yourself).

Flobberworms
Everyone’s favorite, or at least most motionless, creatures. Their enclosure is filled with soft soil and piles of cabbage, which you’re welcome to offer them. No one’s quite sure which end is which, but they seem content either way.

Fairies
The Fairy enclosure is alive with light laughter and shimmering wings. They are small, vain, and endlessly charming. Compliments go a long way here, as do the saucers of milk and sugary snacks left nearby.

Diricawl
These plump, downy, flightless birds waddle in circles, occasionally vanishing without warning. A quick Levioso will usually bring them back into view, although you might get caught in a game of hide and seek.

Jobberknoll
Silent and elegant, the blue-feathered Jobberknoll never utters a sound. They feed on small insects, which you may offer carefully through the bars. (Do not worry — they only scream when they die, and none will be doing that today.)

Doxies
Furthest from the path, in a cool, warded enclosure, are the Doxies. Small, sharp-toothed, and easily offended, they are best admired from a distance. They enjoy cold air and woodlice but not fingers; feed with care, or better yet, let the handlers do it.

The Prefect in charge of this area is Benji Laurence.
