Welcome to Hufflepuff House
Good day to you, I am Deputy Headmaster Gideon Blackwood as well as your Head of House. You may call me Deputy Blackwood, Sir, Deputy or you can figure it out on your own and simply not call me at all, but I digress.
(I am being told that is not an option, I am here to help when needed under duress)
Apparently you are kind, loyal, hardworking and fair. I wouldn’t know, I’m a Slytherin born and bred, but here we are. I was a Hogwarts Graduate, class of 1905, then went on to further my education in Business and Marketing to help run my family's company, Blackwood & Sons. The war put a stop to life, sending me to fight for our country, where I was injured, and later discharged. I spent some time working with the Ministry, in the Minister of Magic’s office, then was hired here to be Deputy Headmaster. When I’m not at the castle, you can typically find me at the Diagon Alley location of my family’s business.
Whether you are new to the castle, a transfer or a returning student, I welcome you to Hufflepuff, I hope to have a productive and quiet year*. There are many new faces on the staff this term, in fact, not surprisingly, all the faces are new. I’m sure you have read about the upheaval, or is that more a Ravenclaw trait? Probably. No bother, things have changed, for the better, follow the rules or I will be displeased. I don’t like to be displeased.
(*I jinxed it by saying quiet didn’t I?)
You are supposed to be a hardworking bunch, that’s good news because you are expected to take a full course load the entire year. If you have questions about this or need accommodations, I’m sure there is someone you can blabber too. I am not that person.**
(**Apparently I am actually that person)
My office hours will be from 5:00pm to 5:30pm every third Tuesday. I suggest you sign up for a spot, I won’t see you without an appointment.***
(***I’ve been told it’s in my contract that I must have office hours daily. I will be available from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 6:00pm Monday through Friday)
Now, let us talk about the upcoming school year. Of course, you are all expected to maintain a full course load for the year. However, I wanted to highlight five classes in particular this coming term.

Activities
Extracurricular Activities look a little different this term. Due to the events of last year and the lower enrollment numbers, we will be halting Quidditch and Dueling until we can secure the magical wards. Instead, we have the below opportunities for a little fun:
Spellcasters Society: A club devoted to helping students improve their magical abilities. If you are interested in improving your spellcasting and want help in a safe and fun environment SIGN-UP today!
Library Assistant: This term, we will be reintroducing the Library Assistant role for all those who wish to help take a load off the librarian's shoulders. Check HERE for more information and to sign up.
Wandering Wands: The Wandering Wands are a group of students whose sole purpose is to learn the art of survival. They focus on emergency situations and how to overcome the challenges that may come about when magic cannot be relied upon. If you are interested, please find more information HERE
