The Gryffindor dorms are located off either side of the common room. Girls dorms to one side, boys dorms to another. First years are not told this, but the stairs leading to the girls dormitory are enchanted to transfigure into a slide, should any boys try to enter the girls dorms. This protection was only extended to the girls dorms as boys at the time, and to this day are deemed less trustworthy.
The Dormitories themselves are comfortable, with each room containing four poster beds for each Gryffindor student in attendance at any given time. The dorms are decorated like the rest of Gryffindor house in the usual colors of scarlet and gold, with plush rugs covering the cold hewn stone floors of the tower. Each room contains a wood burning stove, which is vital to provide some much needed warmth during the colder winter months. as the upper floors can become quite drafty at times. Narrow windows of alternating clear and stained glass provide plenty of light during the daytime hours, while the wood burning stoves cast the slowly smoldering ghosts of every ember upon the floor late into the nights as the students sleep soundly in their warm, plush beds.
On each floor there are bathrooms located adjacent to the room housed on that floor. The bathrooms have enough showers, toilets, and sink space to cater to the students residing on that floor. The individual shower cubicles are privacy curtained, and contain shelves carved into the stone walls holding bottles of all manner of shampoo, soap, and perfumes or colognes.
