The Prefects spent weeks perfecting the carnival. Their work involved everything from making plans and handling staff logistics to creating menus, sourcing entertainment, and arguing over every minute detail. Put eight teenagers in a room and tell them to agree? They were lucky they came out alive. Despite the fierce interhouse fighting, the carnival was a true labor of love, and in the end, the results were spectacular.
Carnivals are inherently fun: games, rides, great food, friends, and an endless supply of delicious, unhealthy snacks. The sounds playing over the grounds were pure joy. Laughter, shouts and cheers from the games, screams from the rides, and the satisfying, intermittent splash of a professor hitting the water. It was the perfect cherry on top of a beautiful cake.
Positioned between the rides and games was quite possibly the best attraction at the carnival. A large Dunk Tank sat front and center, a small seat suspended perfectly over the waiting water. Beside the tank, a metal arm with a classic red and white bullseye beckoned students to take a shot. Much to their delight, the ones taking turns in the hot seat were the Professors and Staff from the castle. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to dunk their Herbology Professor or the Deputy Headmaster?
