Office of Maddox Barlowe
Not far from the Fat Lady's Portrait, an old wooden door imposes itself upon the ridges of the stone wall. There is a simple plaque, rectangular in shape and made of stained metal. It reads "Gryffindor Head of House". If this is the man you're looking for (whether for class or house-related matters), then you've come to the right place. Below the plaque is a sheet of parchment with the following instructions:
"If I'm not inside, I'm either working along the grounds or in the paddocks. (Emergencies only)"
The professor's office tells tales of past adventure. For a man who's spent years out in the field, the office is a reflection of just that.
There is a large window that allows ample light to flood the room on days when the weather relents. Long curtains hang nearly to the ceiling, beige in colour but thick enough to shut the world out when it all becomes too stimulating. Beneath the window is a plush couch, comfortable and inviting. On occasion, this is where the professor takes his naps, so he would thank you not to get dirt or food on it during any of your visits. The pair of velvet couches provides some small comfort for those who find themselves there. More casual meetings are held on them.
More serious matters are directed to the desk that sits in the centre of the room. There are seldom papers or parchments stacked atop it, but there is a mug and an inkwell that sit next to a container of quills. On his desk also sits a globe, and by his desk a series of maps that have a few jottings on each as if the professor had been tracking something. Inside the drawer are duplicates of the files of every Gryffindor student, there at Maddox's fingertips should he need to address any concerns or...undesirable behaviour patterns. General student files for his lessons are also contained within.
To the other walls sits a large bookshelf filled with books on everything from creature care to exploration, with a few veering off into topics that are more niche.
A door toward the back of the office leads to the professor's private quarters. Students aren't allowed there for any reason.
There is a small play area set up in the far corner for the professor's toddler, though, depending on the time of your visit, he may already be off to bed and none of your concern.
To set up a meeting with your head of house, you can leave a message in either of his letterboxes (or send me a PM here/DM on discord @danidinardo).
