Gryffindor Common Room

Nestled behind the Fat Lady's portrait is the common room of the brave...and sometimes foolhardy. Up in Gryffindor Tower, this large, circular room features several squishy couches and armchairs, providing students with a comfortable space to unwind after a long day of classes. The seating is arranged around the large and magnificent fireplace that blazes continuously from the first day of a new term to its end. Atop the fireplace is a portrait of a lion; the visage of Gryffindor House.

A large, plush carpet in shades of deep and light crimson occupies most of the space closest to the fireplace, allowing room for those who prefer a more grounded experience and for days when all the chairs have run out. It's soft to the touch and surprisingly warm. If not careful, one could end up falling asleep right there.

The common room, as one would suspect, is decorated in the colours of this proud house. The curtains, the paint, and the upholstery all contain shades of scarlet and gold. Along the walls hang various tapestries, all depicting famous figures and incidents related to Godric Gryffindor. Some of them move, recounting the tales of the brave founder.

There is a noticeboard that sits just by the exit. It changes weekly, containing all the school events, club activities and assignments due. If you ever feel like you've fallen behind, it should be your first stop.

To one end of the common room are several tables fit for studying or playing any of the games stored on the shelf nearby. There are also many novels and a few educational books that can be found on the neighbouring bookshelf.

Spiral staircases lead both up and down, taking you toward the dormitories. Girls are housed on one side and boys on the other. The staircase to the girls' dormitory has been charmed to turn into a slide the moment a boy sets foot on it. At the top are a couple of balconies that wrap along portions of the common room wall, allowing a clear view below into the main area.
