Gryffindor Dormitories and Bathrooms

Girl/Boy Dormitories

The dormitories are housed on either side of the tower. The rooms both up and down the left stairwell lead to the male dorms. Those both up and down the right stairwell lead to the female dorms. Each stairwell opens to a balcony overlooking the common room, and the stairs on the right immediately smooth into a slide the moment a boy steps onto them.

Each floor of the tower, four beneath the common room and four stretching above it, contains eight dormitories (one floor per year).

The rooms are of a decent size and shaped in a semi-circular fashion as they wrap around the tower.

All dorms are identical, save for the little touches of decor that are added throughout the term by the students. Each room contains 4 four-poster beds with curtains covering all sides. These curtains, like many others in the common room, sport the sigil of Gryffindor with its proud lion. At the foot of each bed is the student's school trunk, and to the right of each bed is a nightstand with a wicker lamp on top and a small opening that can house books below.

In the centre of each room is a large stove that keeps the space warm, especially against the bracing highland breezes in the winter. The heat is magically regulated, allowing for a cooler space during the warmer months.

Against the wall, opposite the beds, sit four chests of drawers used for containing the students' uniforms and everyday casual wear. They are charms to open only with a tap of the owner's wand.

There are wide windows along the walls, allowing in plenty of light and beautiful views of the school grounds.

Bathroom Area

Each floor of the tower contains two bathrooms, one to service the girls of that floor and the other for the boys. There are several showers (three at either end) and a row of stalls set separately. The wall housing the door also houses the sinks and mirrors.

It is most busy just after morning wake-up and about half an hour before curfew. Students wishing to avoid the morning rush, in particular, typically have to wake earlier or risk being late for lessons.

The stone floors are enchanted with a non-slip charm for the moments when the rooms are in highest use, when there may be puddles of water everywhere. The showers themselves are charmed to dry the moment the student steps out, preparing for the next student's entry.
